Homes built prior to 1975 with no major renovations are to have Battery Smoke alarms with 10 year sealed battery
. 

Homes built after 1975 Smoke Alarms must be hard wired and interconnected.  

Smoke alarms older than 10 years of age MUST be replaced. 

Combination Smoke / CO Alarms MUST employ both simulated Voice and Tone.

Carbon monoxide alarms are required on each habitable floor including basements. 

To use the guide find the year your home was built or when your home had any major renovations.  Follow the arrows down the chart for:
  • Smoke / CO Placement
  • How many alarms needed
  • Power requirements

Inspections are Conducted 8 AM - 12 PM M, W, F except Holidays  Fee is $50.00 for single family home 

House Number Required affixed to the Dwelling - Minimum of 3" in Height of a constrasting color 

Certificates are good for sixty days
